Digital Redux / Planet Drum Machine
Digital Redux carried a Hammond Rhythm source into Planet Drum Machine, one of the machine-named sample categories in its large rhythm-box library. The generic label is all the release preserves, but it keeps the sounds in circulation.

Digital Redux lists “Hammond Rhythm” among the sources in Planet Drum Machine. It preserves a name without naming the model: a small but important gap between hearing a sample and knowing the instrument that made it. The listing separately names “Hammond Varion64”, so those two labels should not be silently combined.
Finding the instrument behind the name
Hammond accompaniment took several forms, from separate rhythm boxes to systems fitted to organs. The Rhythm II pictured here is one documented example, with its own chapter in this archive. It illustrates that wider world; the photograph does not establish that a Rhythm II supplied these samples. The Auto-Vari 64 also has a separate history. Until the source instrument is identified, its controls, date and voices remain open questions.
