Eight kits from a larger library

The archive describes bass, snare and three toms, with eight preset kits derived from the SDX sound library. Sound cards can add further kits, extending the instrument beyond its internal selection.

Sensitivity under the sticks

The guide describes analysing pad dynamics to calculate triggering settings. A drummer can adjust sensitivity around a playing style, with those settings governing the internal sounds and MIDI response. The point is the connection between a stroke and its result.

Ten setups to keep

Ten user kits hold drum choices, tuning, reverb and MIDI settings. The archive identifies digital reverb as an option, with room simulations and reversed or gated effects; it should not be assumed fitted to every surviving kit.

MIDI in both directions

Note and channel assignments can send pad performances to other instruments. The SDS2000 can also be played from external MIDI trigger devices and sequencers, giving its drum voices a role beyond its own pad rack.
