A surviving RJ-1 gives the Rhythm Jester a visible front panel; later musicians’ accounts give the Jester name a place on records. Those are separate kinds of evidence. The approximate 1965 date in a sample register is not a verified factory introduction.
The machine in the record

Holy Matter / “Wishing Well”.
Leanna Kaiser describes a restored Maestro Rhythm Jester supplying the drum track for “Wishing Well”. The story is wonderfully concrete: an obsolete home-rhythm box repaired, then asked to become the pulse of a new recording.

Henry Solomon / “TRUCK” (Big Sweeper)
Solomon’s notes name Logan’s Maestro Rhythm Jester as the drum machine used on “TRUCK”.

The Organ69 specimen puts rhythm selection within reach: a row of coloured buttons, Volume, Balance and Speed knobs, a tempo indicator and a large start/stop control. Its specialist listing names ten presets, including Waltz, Swing and the two Rock selections, and says the output cable connects to an amplifier or PA. That describes this surviving RJ-1, not a complete factory specification. The photograph establishes the panel layout; it does not reveal the internal circuit or document how every revision behaved.
A rhythm box on recent records
Henry Solomon’s notes for Big Sweeper, made with Logan Kane and released on 31 December 2021, identify Logan’s Maestro Rhythm Jester on TRUCK. Leanna Kaiser gives a more detailed account of Holy Matter’s Wishing Well: Andy sent the drum track and a bassline she wanted to move against the machine’s static rhythm. Farfisa and hand percussion were added later at the Sinkhole in St. Louis. Here the machine’s repetition is a compositional condition, not a claim that it supplied every percussion sound. Neither account gives the RJ-1 suffix; these are Jester-name recording histories, not exact-model credits.

The work of restoration
Kaiser says Andy had restored his Jester before Wishing Well. Separately, Organ69’s condition note records capacitor replacement and cleaning of the pictured unit’s controls and jack. No source connects that specimen to Andy’s instrument; Solomon’s brief TRUCK note does not describe a restoration. The surviving object and the musicians’ testimony belong together without being treated as one provenance chain. A factory manual, service drawing or dated catalogue would still be needed to establish the RJ-1’s original circuitry and chronology.
